Abby Meets the Wiggles!

Grandma treated Abby to her first concert ~ The Wiggles! Even though Abby had never heard of them before, when Grandma would ask "Abby, do you want to see The Wiggles?", Abby would wiggle away... I guess she learned the word "wiggle" at Mother's Day Out or from one of her singing toys. Here's Abby to tell you all about The Wiggles...

Big time excitement... I couldn't help but squeal all the way through the parking lot & up the sidewalk into the AT&T Center.

It got even better when we got inside... look at all these colorful lights!

I met our neighbors as soon as we got to our seats. They had a big bucket of popcorn, big enough for sharing! At first, they held on tightly, but with a few smiles & a few points at the bucket, I wore 'em down. They offered a few handfuls, but I think they were glad when the show started so that they didn't have to share anymore.

At first when the lights went down & action began, I was a little scared.

But as soon as the music started, it was all fun!

Grandma remembered to bring Goldfish & my sippy cup for the show. There was even a little cupholder just for my sippy cup!

Goldfish are good & all, but popcorn! And it surrounded me on every side! This neighbor was an easy target... just one little glance & a point at his bucket, and his popcorn was all mine, little by little...

First, one handful....

Then, another handful...

Then, a whole cupful...

Eventually, I scored the entire bucket for myself...

What's the problem, Mom? He's happy to share!

Even that big bucket of popcorn ran dry, so I had to begin work on the other neighbor's Hershey bar... Mom drew the line on that!

Once the food was gone, I had plenty of time on my hands. So I decided to give the man in front of us a quick little shower... I just turned my sippy cup upside down above his head. Mom & Grandma gasped, and were relieved to see that my sippy cup didn't pour out. Whew! Then I noticed this woman's hair was so pretty. I just wanted to feel how soft it was. And her shoulders were perfect for me to hang onto while I danced & enjoyed the show.

The show was great!

But I have to say that my favorite part of the day was getting to walk up & down the long hallways filled with bright lights, people & fun!

I seized the day & had a ball..."don't miss a moment!" (Grandma & Mom noticed the perfect backdrop for this photo after we got home- they said it captures how they feel about life with me too).

No! No! Grandma, I am not ready to go!

In case you didn't get the message, I really don't want to go yet...

My Grandma is the best. Thanks for taking me to The Wiggles, Grandma!

Piggy Snoot

Grandpa came up with the perfect name for this new face of Abby's... Piggy Snoot! He said it the first time she made the face for him, and ever since, if you say "piggy snoot", this face appears immediately. Initially the face was her expression of frustration when Mom got in the way of whatever plans she had going on at the moment... but now that the face has such a great name & always earns a laugh, she puts the face on for show. Aunt Melissa caught these photos when she was here last weekend.

Blossoming in Boston

All three of us took a trip to Boston last week for the Life is good festival...a fundraiser for the Life is Good Kids Foundation (www.lifeisgood.com/festivals/our-chosen-charities/) & Project Joy (www.pjkids.org). We also toured around Boston & Cape Ann. Although traveling with a 14 1/2 mo old kid is challenging, Abby was great! She slept in a pack & play in our room, even when we weren't sleeping yet. She slept in the airplane & car with her blankie over her face. She traveled on airplanes, buses, subways, rent cars, her stroller & her Daddy's back in a backpack... without complaint. She ate every meal in a restaurant or on the go...& did great! We had our "moments" when Jake & I looked at each other & thought "what are we doing dragging this little kid all over the place"...but they were few & far between. Most exciting, Abby finally entered the world of the walking for real! But enough from me... I will let Abby tell you all about the trip from her perspective. Here's Abby...

Baby & I traveled in style in Boston.

And learned to eat breakfast on the go... cheerios in one hand & milk in the other.

But when Dad's back needed a break, I was cool in my stroller...I go with the flow you know.

Baby & I got to meet Bert Jacobs at the Life is good festival (he is one of the brothers who founded the company). You might not see Baby, cuz she got squeezed down. Mom & Dad need to do a better job at looking out for the little people.

See, I make sure Baby can see everything goin' on.

Mom said we were in Boston, but it felt just as hot & humid as San Antonio.

Mom & Dad brought this stroller, but I still had to push it! Geez!

Everywhere, people were having fun at the festival.

I made new friends. But I did some background checks before pursuing any new relationships... "What's your name & where are you from?"

"OK, you're cool... I'll share!"

Baby & me just walking down Newbury Street in Boston... lots going on! Why do Mom & Dad keep bringing this stupid stroller?

The kids from the Newbury Street Daycare briefed me on all the cool sites I had to see in Boston. I told them all about San Antonio & invited them to come visit.

This is how we nap on vacation.

Look at my bread bracelet... I designed it all by myself!

Here Dad & I taking a tour of the Sam Adams brewery... no worries, I had only milk!

Eating PB&J with knife & fork...people in Boston are kinda uptight!

But, no worries, I showed 'em...even with the knife & fork, I still got PB&J on me, the table, the booth & Dad. In fact, there's probably still traces of my PB&J sandwich on that table. How cool is that?

But Dad wasn't too cool with the PB&J all over the place...he tried to clean me up... Mom, help, he's wigging me out!

We got out of Boston & checked out Cape Ann. At first, I was not sure I would like the ocean...

Oh, but I do!

The sand was a great place to practice standing.

I came up with this new face while we were on our trip... it is accompanied by sound that goes like this "ooooooohhhhh"... We brought only a few books on the trip, & one of them was Dr. Suess's "Foot Book". Mom read it so many times that I finally starting copying her... she says "sloooooooooooow feeeeeeeeeeet, QUICK FEET!"... so now I do too... all day long!

On our last night of the trip, I thought this pier in Newburyport would be a perfect place to finally walk for real... & it would be a great finale to a great week...let's see how it goes...

Yes, so far it seems to be going well...

Wahoo! I think I've got it!

Bye, Mom & Dad!

I don't think Mom & Dad can keep up...I don't hear 'em behind me anymore.

Yes, I've rounded the corner & lost 'em.

Celebration dance on the pier...everyone, "shake it, baby, shake it!"

What a fun week we had!

Well, Abby was kind of long-winded... it seems the trip made quite an impact on her. Anyway, she failed to mention only one thing, probably because it embarassed her so much... it was the true finale to our trip. When boarding the last flight on the return trip, while balancing Abby in one arm & wearing two different backpacks & dangling other miscellaneous bags from my hands, I was holding a half-empty cup of milk from Starbucks for Abby to finish on the plane... we had been holding up traffic in the boarding process for far too long as we tried to install the carseat & stow all of our stuff, so I was kind of self-conscious at this point... just as I was scooting into our aisle to take a load off & get out of the spotlight, one of the backpacks swung around & crashed into by elbow, sending the cup of milk FLYING UP into the air with milk landing on Abby, me & several unfortunate passengers & dripping down into all kinds of nooks & crannies in the seats & floor... oh my goodness, talk about embarrassing! Perhaps the first of many moments when Mom will embarrass her girl. Thankfully, we were not on Southwest Airlines~ The first thing Grandma said when she held Abby at the airport was that she smelled like sour milk & did Abby spit up on herself??? If only...
