Sneak Peak of Fall Transitional Wear

Hey Moms, we know that in this tough economy you always have your eyes open for ways to make cuts in your kids' clothing budgets. Well, here is something all of us Moms can appreciate. We are proud to introduce a hip new clothing line that transitions gracefully from...

the theater & dining out...

to poolside lounging & play...

to swimming at the country club!

Ha Ha! Here's the real story...Abby & I went to see the Velveteen Rabbit with the Gormans last week & then on to the country club for lunch... swimming was not on the agenda... in fact, it was strictly prohibited by the moms & the kids enthusiastically agreed in advance that there would be absolutely NO swimming... see how well that went...

Hey Abby, my Mom said "no swimming", but it's awfully hot out here & this cool water feels soooo good on our feet...

How about you go left & I will go right... maybe then they won't notice as we gradually get into the pool...

Or maybe if we get real close, the fountains will spray our dresses & our Moms will have to let us go swimming...

What, Mom? I lost my balance, really!

I didn't know anything about Jenna's plans, honest!

Wahoo! We're swimming!

Abby's Library

Grandpa blessed Abby with a new set of bookshelves, just her size, perfect for her to reach all of her books, handmade with love by "Popop". He painted the new dresser too... all for the price of a latte & lots of Abby hugs... we love him lots.

No More Water!!!

Turning on the water in the master bathtub has been one of Abby's favorite acts of "disobedience" for a while now...the tub is a tall garden soaker tub with the handles on top... she can't climb in, but can reach the handles perfectly. We haven't been able to find child-proof knob covers that fit & the doors to our bathroom are swinging doors that don't latch... So we just tolerated the bath-water battles for several months, repeatedly telling her "no water!" It took serious persistence on Abby's part to push us to think outside the box & find a creative solution to the bathtub blues... here's the scoop...

Floaters
Rushing to the tub worrying that your cell phone or camera is floating... most of the time, finding only Lambie, blankie, Baby, hangers, towels, etc.

Shower Shuffle
Mommy having to jump out of the adjacent shower more than 3 times to turn off the bathtub & chase down the little offender

Hmmm, How Long Has it Been?
Jake going to the bedroom to change his clothes after work & coming back to the kitchen to ask "honey, how long has it been since you have been in our bathroom?"...

Voluntary Confessions
Abby walking into the kitchen while I am making dinner & saying "no, no, no"... of course, meaning that I am supposed to follow her until discovering the particular act of disobedience that she is so proud of...afterall, you can't get any satisfaction if you don't get "caught", right?

Toddler Fake-out
Abby faking me out after I had just reprimanded her for turning on the water. While still standing by the tub, she pointed into my bedroom & started jabbering a million words a minute, as if something exciting was going on in there... so I looked to see what she was talking about... the moment I turned my head to look, she turned the water on! I couldn't believe the sophistication of her fake-out, so after turning the water off & telling her "no water!", I waited to see what would happen next... sure enough, she pulled the stunt again!!!

Stop This Crazy Thing
OK... this is where this long story finally ends! Abby & I rushing out the door around 10am one morning last week to get to music class & not returning again until 6:30 that evening... to find the hot water running in my tub... for 8 1/2 hours!!!! I've been doing the math in my head in my dreams at night... She must have taken advantage of my last-minute crazy packing for our trip out of the house...

Uncle!
We finally decided it was time to outsmart our toddler! Jake took the handles right off the bathub so she can no longer turn on the water! Literally, no more water! I am calling Alamo Heights Water & CPS tomorrow to plead for mercy on our bills...

Little Silver Stars Fan

One of the San Antonio Silver Stars shopped in our store last night & she offered us tickets to the game tonight. We had been intending to check out a game, so we gladly accepted the offer! What fun! She got us seats down in the middle of the action & there was plenty of action for Abby. It was an exciting game & they won... now moving onto the WNBA Finals... Abby had a ball!

As usual, she made sure that "Baby" got to be part of the action too!

Her skills at clapping came in handy. Everytime the crowd clapped, Abby clapped too.

Basketball was fun enough, but there was music, noise, clapping & confetti! Lots for a little girl to take in.

All of the excitement left Abby & her baby a little tired... they were out within 3 minutes after we pulled out of the parking lot.

What Does the Fly Say?

What does the fly say? Do you know? Abby will tell you, if you just ask. Last week she was watching me swat at a fly in the kitchen while she was eating dinner... when I missed it, I let out an exasperated "grrrrrrrr". A few minutes later, the fly buzzed past her & she pointed at it & hollered "grrrrrrrr". Well, we spent 15 minutes with her pointing & me swatting before I finally successfully smashed the fly on the ceiling. I left it there so she could see it. Well, for the remainder of the evening she kept pointing at it & saying "grrrrrr." Guess what was the first thing she said the next morning when she got up for breakfast? And at lunch? And at dinner??? Now when you ask her what the fly says, she says "grrrrrrr." Here's the footage...

Weeks later, pointing at magazine on table.. wants it... swinging it in air to swat fly

Frio Fun

Last weekend was our annual weekend at the Frio with the "Pack". Despite Hurricane Ike, the weather was fabulous for us.

Hi guys! The water is great, come on in!

Oh my, this is soooo fun!

Baby, this is the River. Pretty cool, huh?

Silly boys...

Teaching Shiloh how to play patty-cake...

Bathtime... in the shower

Laughtime...

Naptime...

How about a few more shots, guys? Maybe one over there by the River... oh, what about one under that tree... and one on that swing over there... I don't mind taking them for you...

What's wrong, Will, you're not in the mood for a few dozen more photos?

Gerber Baby & her glamorous Mom

Look at me...

Cool front on Monday morning, thanks to Ike!

Storytime by the River with the girls

Abby had no interest in the toys we brought... much rather play with sticks & rocks

A little romance...

Good food, conversation & a cool breeze at Neal's Lodge.

New meaning for "corn holders"

Mom is much more relaxed at mealtimes outside...

Enjoy Shiloh's lack of mobility while it lasts! This was Abby last year... this year was not nearly as relaxing for Abby's Mom & Dad!

Lots of catching up & relaxing...

...and Abby took full advantage of the situation when we weren't looking! Mint Milanos are so good, Mom... you have been holding out on me!

Got to get a "high five" every time I throw a rock in the water!

We were all sad to go home... thankfully, we all weren't as expressive about it as Abby!

Poolside Snacks & Adventures

Look at those snacks Ryan's mommy brought for him! And my mom brought goldfish... Maybe his mommy will make him share if I make this really sad face...
Mom, she ate all of my snacks!

Who me?

Ooh, Ryan, I think you've got something stinky in that diaper.

Yep, let's get your mommy over here to check it out.

I on the other hand smell sweet as a flower!

Let's go check out the playground over there.

Are you sure Abby?

Cuz if you are wrong we could end up on the wrong side of these bars...and that would be no good.

I think we should go back over there to find our mommies. They probably miss us.
